Published 1 mar 2010 - titanporras

It is located in the Caribbean foothills of Costa Rica and comprises 1,614 hectares (3,988 acres) of old growth and disturbed tropical wet forest. Species diversity is spectacular, including more than 1,850 species of plants, 350 species of trees, 448 species of birds, and approximated 500 species of ants
Excellent bilingual naturalists lead the walks that give a glimpse of the leading-edge research conducted at La Selva as well as the Natural History of the Tropical Rain Forest. Each walk is approximately 3 1/2 hours, principally on cement or wood trails suitable for people of all ages.
Overnight at Selva Verde. River Standard room. Breakfast included.
Day 4 Sarapiqui - Arenal :
The next morning, after breakfast, depart for the north plains where the Arenal Volcano is located. Private transfer to Arenal area.
One of the most active volcanoes of the world, rain forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is what you will find in this area. The flawless silhouette of Arenal Volcano, its loud rumblings and frequent explosions of lava and ash are a sight not to be missed by any visitor to Costa Rica.
In the afternoon get ready for your Arenal Volcano Hiking Tour & Baldi Hot Springs.
The Arenal Volcano is active since 1968, it constantly ejects gases, water, fumaroles and explosions with pyroclastic material emissions, and sometimes the eruptions are accompanied with powerful thunders. The lava flows come out of the crater with a temperature up to 1 000 Centigrade. As the lava flows down it slowly cools off. A short hike in one of the trails close to the volcano area will give us the chance to enjoy some forest and the activity around it.
At the Hot Springs, you can enjoy a healthy and relaxing soak.
Includes: Transportation, naturalist guide, entrance fee to hot springs & dinner.
Overnight at Arenal Paraiso Hotel, superior room. Breakfast included.
Day 5 Arenal- Monteverde :
Afternoon private transfer to the Monteverde Cloud Forest, one of the most diverse and richest tropical cloud forests in the New World and home to the resplendent Quetzal and the rare bellbird. We recommend to bring a sweater for the highland areas, and light loose fitting shirts, pants or jeans, and shorts for the lowland areas.
For the beach areas please don't forget to bring a hat or cap, sunscreen, and sun glasses.
For the rainforest and the National Parks we recommend hiking boots, a small backpack, water bottle, pocket knife, flashlight, insect repellent, rainwear, and a pair of binoculars to observe animals.
